From my earliest memories, I recall my parents removing me from the familiar places I had come to know -- home, school, friends, and pushing me to venture into places that required me to explore unfamiliar surroundings, the environment, other people and cultures, and myself more closely. Each adventure required me to make new friends while, at the same time, open my mind to new sites, sounds, and experiences that left me inspired by a world and people I never imagined existed. My entire life has been on the Road Less Traveled and my life has been laced with thousands of snapshot memories that have been anything but ordinary. It is through these experiences I have seen the greatness, tragedy, beauty, and the reality of the world in which we live.
There has never been a greater need for this generation to find their place in the world, and to be and create change, no matter how it is measured, large or small. As I continue to develop my own understanding, mutual respect and sense of shared humanity with those I meet from all walks of life, I see my life so far as preparation for a full and more humane life, a life of leadership and service committed to the improvement of the human condition.
