Lorienne is fresh off an eight-month exploration of China and Southeast Asia. Her first adventure began 20 years ago on a barrier beach island off the southern coast of Long Island, New York. Hesitant to enter the chaotic Atlantic Ocean, she preferred the bayside where the water was warmer and the waves were less intimidating. Lorienne spent every summer, swimming, surfing, and exploring Fire Island. She is now an Ocean Lifeguard at Watch Hill National Seashore and trains newly hired teenagers to become National Park Service lifeguards and advocates. In the winter, Lorienne has worked as a ceramic fabricator in Brooklyn New York. She has worked with a variety of artists creating custom-made furniture, cabinetry, functional pottery, and interior design pieces. Seeking a new challenge, she left the ceramic studio in August of 2016 and moved to Hong Kong to become an Outdoor Educator. As an instructor, she leads International students on outdoor excursions, cultural exchanges and community service projects on the outlying islands of Hong Kong and parts of Mainland China. In her free time Lorienne likes harmonizing, Hip-hop dancing, and browsing grocery stores in other countries. She is eager to join the Road Less Traveled and share the power of travel with other young people.
