During her time as an undergraduate, McKayla spent her energy scheming on how to explore the world. She spent two semesters abroad--one living in an ecovillage in Iceland, and the other studying environmental policy and ecology in New Zealand. Since graduating, she has spent her time working on trail crews in the Green Mountains of Vermont, doing conservation work in southern Utah, working as an outdoor trip leader and GAP year instructor in WY, and exploring the Rockies on foot. Most recently she spent a year adventuring around New Zealand. Here, McKayla completed a thru-hike which consisted of 4.5 months of hiking through diverse and beautiful terrain. She spent the remainder of her time volunteering on small-scale organic farms, living in several ecovillages and learning about the Maori culture and herbal medicine. She is deeply passionate about sustainability, community living, permaculture, wilderness adventuring and global traveling. McKayla couldn’t be more excited to join the RLT team this summer!
