There is something so special about the summer, about the way the dirt crunches under your boots while exploring a new trail or how the sun looks when it finally sets late in the evening over the coast. For the past three years, summer for me has also meant time with The Road Less Traveled, with whom I have had the privilege of leading trips in both Namibia and more recently in Northern India. Beyond providing the chance to see these incredible landscapes, RLT has also enriched my life through the community of leaders and staff that it gathers, all of whom inspire me in the ways that they live each day according to values of respect (for others and the world around us), discovery, service and perpetual learning. I can truly say that RLT feels like second family, and has led me to call places I would have never expected ‘home’. -Mike
Michael Zheng could not be more excited to come back to the Road Less Traveled this summer and trade in his laptop and carry-on bag for his hiking boots and backpack. Michael graduated from Harvard with honors in Economics and Environmental Science and has worked full-time for a management consulting firm, primarily serving healthcare provider and global health clients in his home city of Seattle and abroad in Europe and East Africa. He is currently pursuing an MBA at Harvard Business School. Michael has led the Road Less Traveled’s Wapenduka trip to Namibia in 2012, our 2014 trip to India, Namaste and the Hujambo trip to Tanzania in 2015. We welcome him back as a field staff trainer for 2017!
